About

I am an experienced Bible teacher, scholar, ministry trainer, and the founder of Advance Word Ministries, which provides:

  • live online events and courses to help Christians grow
  • accessible introductions to the Bible for the curious and unsure
  • professional development for preachers and Bible teachers
  • in-person teaching and training by invitation

Experience

After studying law at Oxford University and training as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young I served on the ministry staff of St Helen's Bishopsgate in London.

Since completing further studies in Bible, theology, and ministry at the Cornhill Training Course, Oak Hill College (BA Hons), and Cambridge University (MPhil, PhD) I have held appointments at:

  • Morling College (Adjunct Lecturer in Biblical Greek)
  • Moore College (Lecturer in Old Testament and Ministry)
  • Edinburgh University (Teaching Fellow in Biblical Studies)
  • Cambridge University (Affiliated Lecturer in Hebrew Studies)
  • Tyndale House, Cambridge (Junior Research Fellow)
  • Oak Hill College (Visiting Lecturer in Biblical Studies)

My commitment to effective teaching and support of high-quality learning has been recognised through fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

I am an active member of my local church, where I lead a Bible study group.

Research

My main research interests are Hebrew and Greek linguistics and biblical theology, with a particular focus on sin and righteousness.

I am currently an Honorary Research Associate at Morling College in the Australian University of Theology.
